Hello 2020! Your Small Business Marketing Checklist
This is a wonderful time of year for small businesses. A new year, a new decade, a fresh start to revisit all aspects of your small business. How are your clients doing? Employees? Processes? What goals do you have set for your small business? How about your small business marketing?
Here’s our free checklist to make sure your marketing is on point for the new decade:
Review your marketing plan
Spend an hour or so and really evaluate your marketing efforts. It’s important to think through these questions:
“WHO am I marketing to?” Who are the people in your target audience? How old are they? Where do they live? Demographics in marketing are important, especially if you have a niche product or service.
“WHAT am I marketing?” Does your small business offer products or services? Which ones do you want to give the most attention to? Which ones bring you the most revenue?
“WHEN am I marketing?” How often and what time of day are important factors, think of your audience and when they’re paying attention.
“WHERE am I marketing?” Are you still using print marketing? Are you on social media? If so, what platforms. Could you shift any of these to be more effective?
“WHY am I marketing?” The ultimate question. Why are you marketing? Do you have goals set in place to grow and expand your business? If you experience an influx of customers, are you poised to handle the extra business?
Evaluate your small business’ social media
Spend another hour so reviewing your small business’ past digital marketing. Do you like what you’ve been doing or is it time for a change? Practically, be sure all profiles are functioning with accurate information for your business, all links are working, and that your online presence represents your in-person reality.
Set New Year's goals
Refine (or create) a strategic marketing plan to help you meet your goals. Think through the action steps you need to take as a small business to get you to where you want to be. Then, think about how you can get there through marketing. If the thought of this process feels overwhelming, don’t do it alone! Bring in a trusted friend or business advisor. Or better yet, seek specific marketing help. Professional help from a marketing agency can support the growth of your business. We know the right questions and then turn around and put a strategic marketing plan in place to help your small business exceed your goals!
